Animal Realism

Can I get a tattoo of my pet?

Yes. Pet portraits are one of the most meaningful tattoos we do. The key is the photo. Pick one that is:
Sharp, especially around the eyes
Taken in good natural light
Close enough that the face fills most of the frame
Showing the expression you remember best
If your pet has passed away and you only have older photos, bring several. The artist can tell you what level of detail is possible.

Black and grey or colour?

Black and grey is the most common choice for animal realism. It handles fur texture and depth well and ages gracefully. Colour suits animals with striking markings or eye colour, such as a tiger's orange coat or a bird's feathers, and needs more planning.

Which wildlife designs are popular?

Tigers, lions, wolves, eagles, owls, elephants and snakes are all regular requests. They are often combined with geometric elements, flowers or a background scene.

How big should an animal realism tattoo be?

Realism needs space. Fur, whiskers and the reflection in an eye are tiny details, and they disappear if the tattoo is too small. Forearms, upper arms, calves, thighs, the chest and the back work best.
