What kind of photo do I need?
The photo matters more than anything else. Choose one that is:
Sharp and in focus, especially the eyes
Well lit, with clear light and shadow on the face
Large enough to zoom in without going pixelated
Close-up, with the face filling most of the frame
Old or blurry photos can sometimes still work, but the artist will be honest about how much detail is realistic. If you have several photos, bring them all.
Most portraits are done in black and grey, which gives soft, lasting tones. Colour realism is also possible and can look striking, but it needs more planning and usually more time.
Black and grey or colour?
How big does a portrait need to be?
Faces need space to hold detail. A portrait that is too small loses the features that make it look like the person. Your artist will recommend a minimum size for your placement. The upper arm, forearm, calf, chest and back are common choices.
How many sessions will it take?
That depends on size and detail. Smaller black and grey portraits may be done in one sitting. Larger or colour pieces are often split across several sessions.
Book your portrait tattoo
Tattoos start from ₹1,700. The final price depends on size, detail and placement. If you want to talk your idea through first, a 30-minute consultation costs ₹500, and that is adjusted against your tattoo if you get inked within a month.

Frequently asked questions
What photo is best for a portrait tattoo?
A sharp, well-lit, high-resolution close-up where the face fills the frame, with the eyes clearly in focus.
Can you do a portrait tattoo of my pet?
Yes. Pet portraits follow the same rules: a clear, close, well-lit photo gives the best result.
Should a portrait tattoo be black and grey or colour?
Most are black and grey for soft, lasting tones. Colour realism is possible with more planning and time.
Do I need a consultation for a portrait tattoo?
Yes, it is strongly recommended so the artist can review your photo, size and placement.
